After 5 years of living in Cyprus, a Cyprus Permanent Resident can apply to the Cyprus Immigration Authority to obtain the EU Long Term Residence status.
The long-term residency status is permanent, however the permit holder needs to renew his permit every 5 years (an application has to be submitted 3 months prior to the expiration of the permit).
Taking into consideration the relevant exceptions, every non- EU national who has been residing in the Republic for a period of 5 consecutive years is entitled to apply for the long term residency status. In order to be entitled to apply, the prospective applicant must not have been absent from the Republic for more than 6 consecutive months, and not more than 10 months during the 5-year period.
The Authorities when examining an application for long term residency will require the applicant to have a secure income, sufficient to cover him and his dependents.
